What are HIPs?
High-Impact Practices (HIPs) are experiential educational experiences (such as internships, service learning, and first-year seminars) that forge connections between in- and out-of-classroom learning, foster relationships between students and faculty, and help students express their learning in terms of transferable skills.
These experiences have been a part of colleges and universities for decades but are often pockets of excellence rather than accessible to all. By partnering with SOC, you can make experiential learning available to every student.
Employers stress that skills such as written communication, problem solving, and ability to work on a team are more critical to success than specific content knowledge. HIPs help students acquire these skills through their problem-centered, applied approach to learning.
